Things You May Not Remember

  

I remember the day my eyes found you
And though I wish I could,
But I couldn't look at you endlessly,
For your face carried the elegance of the sunset,
And the brightness of the sunrise.
Too beautiful to resist,
Too strong to be seen through naked eyes.
And yet every time I saw you
My eyes rebelled to the thought of blinking
My heart became aware of its changed symphony
And a sweet pain welcomed me to an unknown journey.

I remember the day our hands locked in a beautiful embrace
Like long lost pieces of a puzzle
Finally coming together
There were no sparks, no electricity there
Like the books and movies had taught us
Instead, there were two sweaty palms
And silence as we walked.
No words were spoken in those moments between us
And yet somehow we knew we had talked.

I remember the day
My eyes confessed my love to you
Long before I knew
The words that could voice my feelings,
Before my mind could figure out
That you were going to be my forever,
And long before promises of forever were exchanged
I knew it in my heart
That my whole life was going to be changed.

I remember the day you walked away from me
Like a fleeting morning dream
Ready to break into nothings any moment
And everything I had dreamed of,
Everything I had wished for,
Was gone in a single moment.
And that's the day I remember vividly
When all those beautiful moments turned into painful memories
Moments that used to make me smile
Were now nightmares haunting me every night
Moments that I once used to love
Turned into memories I now despised.
But in spite of all the terrible things
That I remember going through
I don't know how
I don't know why
I still remember the way it felt
Being in love with you.

Then please tell me what to do

An Incomplete Story

There's a story you all must have heard

About two people

And their happily ever after.

Their journey 

Through bruises and pain 

While they struggle to find

Their way to each other

But have you realised 

The real story is not about the bruises

Or the pain they live through 

Or the journey 

To their happily ever after.

'Cause the story is 

And always will be 

About those two people

Like me and you

The rest are just illusions

Details that might or might not be true

So the story may say

That I might have hurt you 

Or you might have misunderstood me

But in the end

We both know 

That our story is not about all that crap

Our story

Like all other stories

Is about two people

Sharing a single soul.

The half of me

Will always be meaningless and incomplete 

Without the half of you.

Much like our story

Which despite the glorious details 

Of love and madness

Is still unfinished 

And undone too.

People might surmise our story as a sad one

Or a story with a sad ending.

But for me

There'll be only two types of stories

One in which those two people finally meet

And the one that is forever incomplete. 

Damaged Good

Damaged good is what I am
To this world,
To all these people.
Irreparably broken
And impossibly flawed
With scars painted across my body,
Running deep into my soul.
To me, they're ugly yet beautiful
A legacy of my sufferings,
An emblem of my survival.
To them, they're ugly and pitiful
A reason for my imperfection,
A reminder that I am
Nothing more
Than a damaged good

I scream for affection
And sympathy is what I get.
I wish for acceptance
And rejection is what I get.
I don't want to be treated
Like a stupid charity case.
And I know
All the things I've been through
It doesn't matter to you
Or anyone else
'Cause in the end
Damaged good is all I am
Torn and shredded,
Fixed and mended.
An object of no interest
A soul unworthy of love
An ambitious masterpiece
Marred by scars
A music out of tone
A star without light.

That Girl

I once knew a girl
Tormented by time and fate
'A walking paradox'
As people would debate
She was well equipped
With all the life lessons.
Yet everything seemed so lifeless about her
Other than her big eyes
That spoke volumes of unspoken words
And then there was the way she used to smile
A baffling emotion she always tried to hide
'Cause happiness seemed a half way trip
Across her lips
Never reaching her eyes
That only hinted at the violent storm
Going inside her heart
It didn't take long to find out
The long wall she'd built around herself
So that no one could see
What she was trying so hard to shield
She was terrified
Of the inevitables that could befall
If someone broke through that wall.
'Cause inside was remnants and pieces
Of the girl she once used to be
Or maybe that's who she really was.
Loving and breakable,
Caring and vulnerable.
A girl that wasn't afraid
To wish upon a star.
A girl that wanted to be cherished
And not forsaken
A girl who once believed
She was not mistaken
In hoping that her love would find
A way through the darkness
To the beautiful forever.
Even when her life wasn't kind
And the fate was cruel.
She deserved eternity of love
But instead
She ended up getting hurt
And broken down to the core.
She became oblivious
To all the feelings she once loved
So that she could avoid the feelings
That haunted her now.

That girl was stupid and naive
To believe so much in love
Love that eventually made her sad
Or maybe that girl was brave
Who loved someone with all her heart
And fought for that love
With everything she had.
That girl was not just an ordinary girl
She was a believer
And a dreamer
A girl with courage
A girl with faith
A girl who was fearless,
And reckless in her love
A girl who couldn't win the battle
But was a warrior nonetheless.

That's why I am waiting
Patiently waiting
For those walls to come down
For 'that girl' to come around
So that fifty years from now
I can proudly recount this story -
"I once knew a girl
And that girl was someone extraordinary..."

What Is Left Behind

Sometimes a long sigh,
Sometimes a silent cry
It takes everything
To move on and continue
On this journey of life.
Leaving behind a part of ourselves
And carrying a bundle of memories
Confined in our minds
Reminding us
Time and again,
Of what is left behind.

Dreams of forgotten places
And faces we couldn't forget.
Ghosts of our past
Trailing behind us.
Dare we look back, we would regret
Thousand things
That shouldn't have been said,
Thousand moments
If only we could rewind.
And looking back
Is all it would take 

To reminisce what is left behind.

We are meant to follow
A journey like a river.
Unstoppable, unattached, and unaffected
By every separation and sorrow
Till it merges in the ocean
Where it's journey is through.
And now the same strength within ourselves
Is what we must find.
Who knows, what lies ahead
Might really be worth
Of all that is left behind.
